چکیده

The objective of this research was to evaluate new types of surfactants based on renewable materials (sugar and protein-based surfactants) for use in ink removal from recycled paper via flotation deinking. By applying green chemistry approaches we aim to minimize the environmental impact of deinking agents and also to open an avenue for a number of products that are to be generated from the utilization of biomass. Foamability and foam stability by the respective surfactants were considered and detergency experiments via piezoelectric sensing were used to unveil their fundamental differences in terms of surface activity. Lab scale flotation deinking efficiency was measured primarily by image analysis and flotation yield determined gravimetrically. We demonstrated that sugar-based surfactants are viable replacements to petroleum-based surfactants in flotation. Differences in flotation efficiency could be explained based on foaming, detergency and adsorption characteristics of the surfactants.

Deinking of Laser Printed Copy Paper by Chemical Different Treatments and Effect on Optical and Strength Properties of Paper

Paper recycling in an increasingly environmentally conscious world is gaining importance. Withrapid developments in deinking processes for the reuse of secondary fibers being made, therecycling process is become more and more efficient. This work investigated the effect ofchemical different treatments including H2O2 and NaOH on repulping and flotation operationsduring the deinking of laser prin...

Deinking of HP digital commercial prints

Hewlett-Packard (HP) is actively engaged in external and internal research to ensure that deinkability of the current recycled paper streams is maintained as the percentage of digital prints in deinking mill furnish increases. As part of this effort HP is working to understand how ink and paper interactions for both inkjet and liquid electrophotography affect the flotation deinking process. Res...

IPST Technical Paper Series Number 867 Flotation Deinking of Old Newsprint Using Poly(Diallylmethylammonium Chloride) as a Single Deinking Agent

Flotation deinking of old newsprint (ONP) using polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (polyDADMAC) as the only deinking agent was studied. The results demonstrate that polyDADMAC can neutralize dissolved anionics to form small particles. These small particles, together with ink, filler, and fines, strongly adsorbed onto air bubble surfaces and functioned as particle foaming agents. Therefore, no...

4th International DAAAM Conference

The efficiency of ink separation in the process of waste paper recycling depends among other things on the ink properties, kind of the substrate, the printing techniques and the printing conditions. Chemical deinking flotation does not efficiently remove water based flexographic inks, UV ink and varnish, ElectroInk and some toners from digital printed paper. The use of enzymes could be an alter...

Role of Deinking Agent and Its Challenge

The basic deinking process for old newspapers, the role of the deinking agent, the science and the condition for good deinking are reviewed based on the results in our laboratory first. Then, by using this typical deinking process, the deinkability of the pigment―based inkjet printings was examined. In commercial printings, the transition to on―demand printings is in progress, because the on―de...
